Defeat Anime RNG Trait Shards Guide
Code shards go on a keeper. Powers [Angelic] and [Blossom] are not shards — park them on the same long-term main.
Trait Shards are the main reason to care about Defeat Anime RNG codes after Death Castle. Most of the September 2026 list pays shards. They exist so you can shape a keeper instead of waiting on a 1 in 999,999,999 roll. They are also easy to waste. Dumping the whole pile on the first Common you rolled is how accounts feel broke two zones later.
This page is how to earn shards, how they differ from Powers, and where they should go. If you do not have Death Castle yet, farm the 450K first using how to unlock zones and getting started. Shards are not a spawn resource.
Where Trait Shards come from
After Death Castle, open Shop on the left, scroll to the code box, paste, press Enter. Live strings as of September 2026:
bugfix— 50 Trait ShardsBugfixes1— 50 Trait ShardsUpdate3— 75 Trait Shardsmicropatch1— 30 Trait ShardsUpdateTwo— 50 Trait Shards plus five Luck PotionsRelease— 25 Trait Shards plus XP, Luck, and Gold Potions
That is 280 shards from codes alone before you spend a Robux. Chainsaw, Evangelion, and Blossom do not pay shards; they pay Genius Mutated Kobeni and Powers. Redeem those too, but do not look for shard numbers on them. The full table is on the codes hub. The click path is how to redeem. If a paste fails, codes not working.
No expired codes are listed right now. Redeem the shard codes in one sitting. They do not gain value in the box.
Spend on mains, not commons
A main is the copy you merge into and send at bosses. A Common you are about to feed away is not a main. Shards that land on food disappear with the food.
Order of operations:
- Merge a keeper using how to merge.
- If you have Genius Mutated Kobeni, decide whether she is the combat main or a protected second tree. Either way she is a legal shard target. A random unmerged Common is not.
- Spend a slice of shards on that keeper. Do not empty 280 in one panic click unless you already know that unit is the long-term field.
- Go fight. If the unit still feels like the one, spend more. If a better keeper landed, stop spending on the old body.
You will not get a published per-trait stat sheet from this wiki. Developers have not given a public table beyond the rarity marketing (1 in 2 at 5 DPS versus 1 in 999,999,999 at 100M DPS) and the level 1 versus 999 contrast. Shards are a shaping tool on top of merges. They do not replace merges. A sharded level 1 copy still loses to a merged stack you actually sent into the wave.
Trait Shards versus Powers [Angelic] and [Blossom]
These are different slots. Mixing the words is how players think Evangelion paid 75 shards.
- Trait Shards are a currency/item pile from the bugfix and update codes. You choose a unit and spend them there.
- Power [Angelic] comes from
Evangelion. It is a Power, a loadout modifier. - Power [Blossom] comes from
Blossom. Same idea, different Power.
Park Powers on the same long-term main you are willing to shard. A Power on a throwaway copy is as wasted as shards on that copy. Powers are not mutations. Mutations are unit variants; see mutations. You can have Genius Mutated Kobeni and still put a Power on her. You cannot spend shards and expect a Power to pop out.
If you redeem Evangelion and Blossom on the same night as the shard codes, assign the Powers first so you know which body is the real main, then spend shards on that body. Doing it backwards is how Angelic ends up on a unit you already decided to feed.
What not to buy with the shard mindset
Shards are not Luck Potions. Luck Potions from UpdateTwo and Release go on roll sessions after you like the experience and join the Defeat Anime Bosses group. They hunt rare animes and mutations. They do not trait a unit you already own.
Shards are not Gold Potions. Gold is for the next zone Coin wall. Spending shards will not unlock a map.
Shards are not XP Potions. XP levels the copy you already chose. If you are still choosing, hold both XP and shards.
A conservative spend plan
New account, Death Castle just opened:
- Redeem everything.
- Bank shards.
- Put Kobeni on the field. Put Angelic and Blossom on whichever keeper you will still be looking at tomorrow — often Kobeni if she is your spike, otherwise your merged main.
- Run waves and one boss. See how to beat bosses.
- Spend a portion of shards on that keeper. Leave a buffer for a better roll this week.
Older account with a locked main:
- Spend more aggressively on that main. The buffer matters less if you already survived two zone walls with the same copy.
- Still do not shard a Common you rolled for merge food.
Six-player servers do not share shards. A neighbor with a fully sharded stack is a screenshot, not a drop. Your 280 from codes is yours after your 450K.
After the pile is gone
Play the loop. Merge. Fight. Unlock the next zone. Time Luck Potions when you roll again. Watch updates and Discord for the next shard code. There is no official Trello. When Update4 or another bugfix string appears, come back to this page’s rule set even if the numbers change: mains, not commons; Powers in the Power slot; mutations on their own branch.
Trait Shards are a code reward with a targeting problem. Aim them, then go back to waves.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for codes, merges, bosses, and Death Castle.
Which Defeat Anime RNG codes give Trait Shards?
`bugfix`, `Bugfixes1`, `Update3`, `micropatch1`, `UpdateTwo`, and `Release`. The live table is on Codes. Redeem after Death Castle with how to redeem.
Should I put Trait Shards on my first Common?
No. Wait until you have a main or Genius Mutated Kobeni. Merge first using how to merge, then spend.
Is Power [Angelic] the same as Trait Shards?
No. `Evangelion` grants a Power, not shards. `Blossom` is the other Power. Park both on a keeper. Mutations are separate — see mutations.
Can I get shards before Death Castle?
Not from codes. The zone costs 450K Coins. Farm it with how to unlock zones first.
Do shards replace Luck Potions?
No. Shards shape a unit you own. Luck Potions are for the next roll session. Timing is in getting started.
