How to Merge Defeat Anime RNG Units
Duplicates level a main copy. Mutations stay on their own branch — especially Genius Mutated Kobeni.
Merging is how Defeat Anime RNG turns junk rolls into a boss killer. The game is an incremental: you roll anime units, then feed duplicates into a keeper so that copy levels. A level 1 body and a level 999 merged fighter are not the same unit with a coat of paint. Marketing puts that gap next to the rarity extremes — 1 in 2 at 5 DPS versus 1 in 999,999,999 at 100M DPS. You climb the level side of that chart by merging, not by praying every roll is the poster rarity.
This page is the merge rules. If you still need the first-hour order, start on getting started. If you are about to feed Genius Mutated Kobeni into a normal copy, stop and read the mutation section first.
What a merge actually does
A duplicate is fuel. When two copies of the same unit exist, you merge the spare into the one you want to keep. The keeper gains level. The spare is gone. You do not get a third hybrid unit. You get a stronger main.
That is why inventory clutter is a trap. Six level 1 copies of the same name look like a team. They are six weak bodies that should have been one mid-level fighter. Waves and bosses care about the copy you send, not about how many names you can screenshot.
Merge after a small batch of rolls, not once per hour. Early Coins are scarce because Death Castle still wants 450K. Turning dupes into levels is the cheapest damage you can buy before codes exist.
Pick a main before you click merge
Every account needs a main: the copy you will actually send into waves and bosses. Everything else is either backup or food.
How to pick in the first hour:
- Prefer the copy you already like enough to look at for an hour. You will merge into it a lot.
- Prefer the copy that is already ahead on level if two names are close.
- Do not wait for a mythical 1 in 999,999,999 roll before you start merging. That roll may not land this week. A merged common-to-mid unit beats a museum of untouched rares that never fight.
When a clearly better unit lands later, you can change mains. Feed the old main into the new one if they share a merge path, or retire the old one as a wave filler. What you should not do is keep both at low level out of indecision.
Use the tier list as a first filter when you have several candidates, and the units hub when you are comparing keepers. Neither page replaces the rule: one main, feed dupes, fight.
Protect mutations — do not feed Genius Kobeni into a plain copy
Chainsaw (after Death Castle) grants Genius Mutated Kobeni. That unit is a mutation branch. A plain Kobeni, if you rolled one, is not the same object. Merging the mutated copy into the plain copy is how you throw away the code.
Rules:
- The mutated unit is the main for that name. Never treat it as food.
- If you have a plain duplicate of the same base, feed the plain one into the mutated one only if you are sure the merge keeps the mutation. If you are not sure, do not merge them. Park the plain copy as a separate wave body or leave it in inventory.
- Keep mutation branches separate from your generic merge pile. The mutations guide is the long version of this rule.
This is the single most expensive click a new player can make after redeeming codes. Codes are gated behind 450K Coins. Wasting Chainsaw on a bad merge means farming that entire wall for a unit you already had.
The same caution applies if a lucky roll later drops another mutated unit. Until this wiki can name a second confirmed mutation, treat any mutated tag the way you treat Genius Kobeni: keeper, not food.
What not to feed
- A mutated copy into a non-mutated copy.
- A unit carrying Power [Angelic] or Power [Blossom] into a throwaway duplicate if the Power would vanish with the body. Park Powers on the long-term main first; see trait shards for how Powers differ from shards.
- Your only copy of a name you still might main. You can always merge later. You cannot un-merge.
What you should feed: extra plain copies of the main, and extra plain copies of units you have already decided are not the main.
Merge, then fight, then roll
Merging is not a side activity you do in the lobby while ignoring combat. A merge should change what you send into the next wave. If you merge and then immediately roll until inventory is full of new level 1 copies, you just undid the roster clarity.
A clean cycle:
- Roll a small batch.
- Merge dupes into the main (and into any protected mutation).
- Send the roster at waves. Take a boss only if the last merge made waves look easy — how to beat bosses.
- Spend Coins on the next batch only when you need more food or a new candidate.
That cycle is also how you reach later zones. Death Castle and every wall after it are Coin checks. Merged damage prints Coins. The zone guide is the map; this page is the engine.
Luck, shards, and merge timing
Like the experience and join the Defeat Anime Bosses group before a heavy roll. Extra luck means more chances at rare animes and mutations, which means more decisions about what not to feed. Drink Luck Potions from UpdateTwo and Release only when you are about to roll a large Coin stack, not while you are mid-merge on junk.
Trait Shards from the bugfix and update codes belong on the main after it exists, not on a copy you still might feed away. Merge first, spend shards second.
Six players, one merge tree
Servers hold six players. Nobody else can merge your units. A teammate with a level 999 poster unit does not level yours. Watch what they send if you want ideas, then go merge your own tree. Codes, shards, and Kobeni stay on your Roblox account.
If a merge result looks wrong after a micropatch, rejoin place 92606991708989 before you keep feeding keepers. UI desync is a reason to pause, not a reason to smash merge on Genius Kobeni.
Merging is the skill that makes every other guide cheaper. Do it on purpose, protect the mutation, pick a main, and send that main at the next boss.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for codes, merges, bosses, and Death Castle.
What does merging do in Defeat Anime RNG?
It feeds a duplicate into a keeper so that copy levels. Pick a main first. Details are on this page; the first-hour order is in getting started.
Can I merge Genius Mutated Kobeni into a normal Kobeni?
Do not. Keep the mutation on its own branch. Claim Kobeni with `Chainsaw` from Codes, then follow the mutations guide.
Should I wait for a 1 in 999,999,999 unit before merging?
No. Merge the main you have. Rarity extremes are marketing; levels come from duplicates. Spend shards later using trait shards.
When do I merge versus when do I fight?
Merge after a small roll batch, then send the stronger copy into waves. Take bosses only when that roster is ready — see how to beat bosses.
